Sustanon is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) solution first developed by Organon. The theory at the time of its invention was that different types of esters might be able to provide for a continual release of testosterone over an extended period of time. This drug blends four different esters together to create the primary components needed for its cited effects to take place. These esters are 30 mg testosterone propionate, 60 mg testosterone phenylpropionate, 60 mg testosterone isocaprote, and 100 mg testosterone decanoate.
During the late 1980s this drug was greatly sought after due to the belief that it was a superior version of testosterone. This belief continued to hold sway into the 90s due in some part to a marketing campaign that showed its benefits. The newsletters write-ups created by Dan Duchaine are cited by many individuals as one of the primary reasons this drug remained as popular as it did. Despite the beliefs that circulated the globe regarding this product it was never meant for athletics or bodybuilding pursuits. The primary use of Sustanon is convenience. The differing esters were included in order to provide timed releases of testosterone over the course of a month after one injection.
The bodybuilding community has generally moved away from Sustanon. The inclusion of testosterone phenylpropionate and proprionate have caused individuals at well known steroid forums, such as Steroid.com, to dislike this product due to the way that bodybuilders and athletes use these esters. Testosterone proprionate is generally shot everyday while phenylproprionate is usually taken every three days.
Sustanon works in the same manner as any other testosterone hormone injection. Just like any other hormone supplement it will stimulate the individuals metabolism while increasing protein synthesis. This means that muscles will become larger even as fat stores diminish.
Testosterone generates signals that travel to your muscles that cause them to store more contractile protein. These types of protein are known as actin and myosin. This improved protein synthesis will cause muscles to grow rapidly with continued use. This protein synthesis can cause both an increase in the size of muscles and in the number of muscle fibers. Further, it also causes and increase in red blood cell production (erythropoiesis) in the kidneys. A higher red blood cell count will improve recovery and diminish the amount of time it takes to repair injuries to the body, such as what happens during a vigorous weight-lifting session. It also increases the number of motor neutrons in the muscles while improving neuromuscular transmission in general. These drugs also promote glycogen synthesis in general.
The level of aggression within some individuals will rise when taking this drug just as it might with any use of an exogenous testosterone. The improved testosterone levels effect individuals differently but higher levels of aggression are quite common.
